Leh to Kargil – A Dreamy Roadtrip!
Have you ever visited a place which seems like a Dream come true? The more you look around you, the more you feel it unbelievable to believe your eyes. You blink your eyes, you pinch yourself but you never seem to wake out of the dream. I witnessed something similar while witnessing a travel from Leh to Kargil which completely left me wonder-struck. Here are some of the memories I’ll like to share with all the travellers to give them the glimpse of the heaven that Ladakh really is.
District Leh is situated roughly between 32 to 36 degree north Latitude and 75 to 80 degree East longitude and altitude ranging from 2300 mtrs to 5000 mtrs above sea level. District Leh with and area of 45100 Sqs Kms makes it one of the largest district in the country.The district is bounded by Pakistan occupied Kashmir in the west and China in the North and eastern part and Lahul Spiti of Himachal Pardesh in the south east. It is at a distance of 434 km from State capital (Summer) Srinagar and 474 km from Manali (HP). Some of the significant places you must not miss visiting here are Sculpture at Drass, Rock Cut Sculpture at Mulbekh, Lamayuru Monastery, Likir Monastery, Alchi Monastery, Phyang Monastery, Hemis Monastery, Leh Palace, Old Castle Tsemo Hill, Stupa at T- Suru, Shey Palace, Phangong lake, Magnetic Hills, Moonland. Leh is also famous for its pearls that are available in diverse varieties and designs in the markets here. Apart from that, one definitely shouldn’t miss the world-famous Sizzlers under the canopy of stars in some roof garden in its Main Market.

Kargil is a town, which serves as the headquarters of Kargil District of Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh. It is located 60 km and 204 km from Drass and Srinagar to the west respectively, 234 km from Leh to the east. A beautiful town, lying serenly in the lap of nature, it is nonetheless a heaven on the Earth.
It is definitely a must visit place for all travellers. This place won’t only be a great destination but will also make you learn a lesson for life i.e., the beauty lies not in the destination but in the journey itself. For believe it or not, the road journey from Leh to Kargil in itself will provide you with infinite beautiful views that you can cherish for life.
